What to pack or not to pack?

Help Wanted: Need a Job?

You’re unpacked and have set up your dorm room. Classes have begun.

Now, you’ve met some new friends who are going to the movies Friday night. You want to go too, but your wallet is empty.

Do you know what your options are when it comes to landing a job in the area? Here are three options for you to check out.

Work Study
This federally funded financial aid employment program is available to full-time, matriculated students.

If you have been awarded Work Study it will be included in your financial aid package. If you haven’t received Work Study, you cannot apply for a Work Study position.

The Office of Financial Aid is hosting a Work Study Fair for first-time recipients on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building MPR. Please dress appropriately and bring multiple copies of your resume, as this will be the chance to speak with various departments looking for student help.

Temporary Service
Temporary Service (Student Assistant) positions are on-campus employment programs for matriculated students taking at least six credits during the semester in which they would like to work. Many students will be looking for a limited number of positions available, so start looking early.

Departments with temporary service jobs available interview and hire on their own. The Temporary Service appointment packet lists departments that regularly have positions available, as well as their contact information.

Off-campus Jobs
Students looking for part- and full-time non-career oriented jobs can do so with the help of the Office of Financial Aid’s Off-Campus Student Employment site located here.

Job opportunities are regularly posted by off-campus employers.
