With its yellow and orange tree lined streets, New Paltz looks like a town right out of the movies. Fall allows residents and visitors to see just how beautiful the town is. With that in mind – New Paltz and other nearby towns showcase their communities’ events and festivals. Here are just a few:
- Hike and take in the beauty of the scenery at Mohonk Preserve (www.mohonkpreserve.org) or Minewaska State Park (www.lakeminnewaska.org)
- International Pickle Festival in Rosendale (www.picklefest.com)
- Take a ride to an apple and pumpkin farm and do your own picking (www.newpaltzchamber.org)
Halloween is a fall favorite for everyone. Let the Headless Horseman Haunted Houses and Hayride in Esopus (www.headlesshorseman.com) and Haunted Huguenot Street (www.hhs-newpaltz.org) help scare you into the holiday spirit. On Halloween, the fun starts at 6 p.m. with the Halloween Parade down Main Street and followed by the Night of 100 Pumpkins, where master carvers bring their creations for judging at The Bakery (www.ilovethebakery).
