Construct New Science Building

Last Updated: Friday, January 29, 2016

Status: Construction Phase

DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND:
Upon arrival at the campus, the first thing one will see is the new Science Building, due to its location at the corner of Plattekill Avenue and South Manheim Boulevard. It will enhance student-faculty interactions and provide improved interdisciplinary teaching laboratories and classrooms. Academic departments that will have offices in the new building include computer science; geology; mathematics; physics and astronomy; and geography. Reflecting our campus values and environmental responsibilities, this building will be designed to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

UPDATES:
Electrical and plumbing rough-in continue and some exterior slate is installed as well as the glazing. The contractor is hoping to have the building enclosed shortly. Furniture discussions are in the works and the project is moving along according to schedule.
