Construct New Science Building
Last Updated: Thursday, May 28, 2015
Status: Construction Phase
DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND:
Upon arrival at the campus, the first thing one will see is the new Science Building, due to its location at the corner of Plattekill Avenue and South Manheim Boulevard. It will enhance student-faculty interactions and provide improved interdisciplinary teaching laboratories and classrooms. Academic departments that will have offices in the new building include computer science; geology; mathematics; physics and astronomy; and geography. Reflecting our campus values and environmental responsibilities, this building will be designed to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The contractor has been begun framing on the exterior walls. The sprinkler contractor has begun work, and the pads have been poured for the penthouse. Electrical and plumbing rough-in continues, as does site drainage and grading work. The project is moving along according to schedule.
