Foundation Board Director Elizabeth Perez ’98 (Electrical Engineering) recently met with a cohort from AC2 and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) on campus.
Foundation Board Director Elizabeth Perez ’98 (Electrical Engineering) recently met with students from the SUNY New Paltz AC2 program and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) chapter. "You will all do well, you are engineers! The companies who meet you will know because of your degree that you can learn, and then do the work they need," she said. Perez is a first-generation college graduate and serves as an assistant vice president, senior lead electrical engineer at multinational engineering and design firm, WSP USA. Perez was one of two women and one of only a handful of Latino students in the electrical engineering program when she was a student in the late 1990s, but thanks in part to programs like WISE and AC2, representation of those groups in STEM programs at New Paltz have increased dramatically in the years since. Read more about Perez online.

FEATURED QUOTE

“What makes New Paltz uniquely New Paltz? Student after student said it’s the opportunities they’re presented. From specialized programs like the Scholar's Mentorship Program to
@SUNY_EOP, students find accessible pathways to education and to community at SUNY New Paltz.”

YOUR FUTURE

As a thank you for being a friend of SUNY New Paltz, we want to make it easier for our community to find peace of mind and protect what they love. One easy way to do just that is to write a legal will — nearly 70% of American adults don’t have one, but it’s an essential task to plan for the future and protect the people and causes they care about. Use this free will-writing tool to get started in 20 minutes or less, at no personal cost.
