Journalism

The Journalism Program at SUNY New Paltz is an intense curriculum that gives students a broad range of knowledge about the news and media in relation to today’s society and culture. Like the industry, it is fast paced and demanding and students learn the necessary writing, organizational, research, collaboration and interview skills to succeed in the ever-changing job market. The program is an excellent launch pad for students interested in pursuing careers in newspapers, magazines, broadcasting and online media.

Upon completion of the Journalism Program, students will be experienced in working under deadline and working in a real news environment as all majors are required to complete an internship. Students are continually encouraged to be the “eyes and ears” of society and are taught to prepare accurate and informational news stories.
