Students must complete an Application for Graduation with the Office of Records and Registration in order to be able to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Due dates are as follows: May: February 1; August: May 1; December: September 1

A representative will be available in the campus bookstore to sell rings Feb 28th: 12pm-4pm / March 6th: 12pm-4pm / March 29th: 12pm-4pm / April 20th: 12pm-4pm
Conferral of Degrees
This means you have met all the academic requirements for your graduation, which is finalized by the Office of Records and Registration once all your grades are submitted. Their office issue the diplomas 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester. Commencement is a formal ceremony that recognizes the August graduates and the December and May candidates for graduation.

Diplomas: At the Commencement ceremony, candidates do not receive an actual diploma. but will receive a Certificate of Participation. Your degree will be mailed to your permanent address 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester by the Office of Records and Registration. Please contact them directly for information pertaining to this.

Individual Class Recognition
SUNY New Paltz will recognize your graduating class separately. These will be listed individually by graduation month and year in the commencement program booklet. There will also be a point in the ceremony where each group of graduates will be recognized. The bookstore will also be offering graduation year charms that can be worn on the graduation cap tassle.

Faculty who wish to participate in any of the ceremonies must register at my.newpaltz.edu. You will be notified via e-mail when registration is open.
Marshals
Are at each of the ceremonies to assist with the proceedings of the day. Look for people wearing orange Commencement shirts for the May Ceremonies. Any faculty who wish to help out, please sign up at my.newpaltz.edu when the announcement arrives via e-mail.

Sashes
The Bookstore will be ordering sashes for the study abroad students. The students will need to either call or stop into the bookstore to order their sash and pay for it no later than Wednesday, April 18, 2012 to ensure delivery by graduation. The price for the Study Abroad sash price is (2012 Pricing TBA).

Severe Weather
Call (845) 257-INFO (4636) for cancellation information due to an emergency or inclement weather. A message will be recorded if there are any changes in the schedule. Any cancellations or changes will also appear on the New Paltz Web site. There are no rain/snow date for commencement ceremonies.
