Problem solving sessions are part of the curriculum in General Chemistry classes at New Paltz

No more dozing off into the blue haze during PowerPoint lectures! General Chemistry students are learning the art of problem solving through a series of hands-on activity sessions scheduled during Chemistry “lecture” throughout the semester. During these periods, students break-up into groups of four where they work together on a chemistry-based activity designed to strengthen their problem-solving skills.
Figure 1. Students discuss how to determine the concentration of a reactant seconds after the reaction begins using a model reaction and experimental data.
