Alumni Profile: Joan Kim

09/28/2007

Joan Kim (hometown Vestal, NY) graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry from SUNY New Paltz in May, 2007. She spent her final semester in a study abroad program in Prague at Charles University. She also participated in an internship at the Forum 2000 Foundation, a non-governmental organization that is exploring peaceful means of existence between groups with different religion, culture, and ethnicity, based in Prague. Joan says this was, “…an absolutely incredible experience…we had the most incredible speakers come and discuss ways to world peace”.

Joan also spent a semester in Korea following her graduation from SUNY New Paltz where she worked for the Korean TV channel, Arirang TV. There, she learned about the culture of Korea (and did a lot of hiking, see photo).

Presently, Joan is in a Master’s program in Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Policy at Georgetown University where she is studying non-traditional forms of healthcare including alternative therapies and health care policies.
