Chemistry Department Celebrates National Chemistry Week

On Wednesday, October 24 the Chemistry Department hosted its fifth annual Family Mole Night where kids between the ages of 8-12 are invited to come on campus to do some hands-on activities with the students and faculty. The event is organized by the student Chemistry Club. This year, the activities included the Starch Search (testing foods for the presence of starch using iodine), Testing Suncreens (using UV-sensitive beads to test different sunscreens), Kool-Aid Dyeing (dyeing different kinds of fabric using Kool-Aid), and Marbling with Shaving Cream (marbling paper using shaving cream and food coloring).
