RESEARCH AREAS: Bioinorganic chemistry. Our group is attacking real-world problems by engineering the catalytic and electron transfer behavior of proteins. Specifically, we are investigating and modifying copper enzymes called laccases or multicopper oxidases, using methods ranging from molecular biology and protein biochemistry to spectroscopy and surface electrochemistry.
