Chemistry Department Celebrates National Chemistry Week

Alumni Profiles
10/05/2009 Matthew Buck is from Monroe, NY and completed his Bachelors degree in 2007. He is currently a graduate student in the chemistry department at Pennsylvania State University and just passed his comprehensive oral examination. Matt is working on the development of synthetic pathways to multifunctional, inorganic hybrid nanocrystals with compositionally and morphologically complex components. Read more

Iron Analysis in Honors General Chemistry Lab
09/09/2009 This year for the first time, the Chemistry Department is offering an Honors section of the General Chemistry 1. Students will engage in multi-week experiments using sophisticated equipment. In the pictures below, the students are preparing solutions to analyze for the amount of iron in an iron tablet. Next week, they will analyze their favorite foods for iron content. Read more
