Ceramics Program
Ceramics is a material-based art and design practice. The Ceramics Program is directed by Associate Professor Anat Shiftan and includes Assistant Professor Bryan Czibesz as prominent faculty. Instructional support is provided by Michael Humphreys. Studies in the program are based on a traditional material training and incorporate contemporary ceramics practices and new technologies. Ceramics research requires a wide range of technical skills, command of formal and design principles, and knowledge of the history of ceramics, fine art, and contemporary sociopolitical and cultural dialog. Students are inspired to become creative and informed makers, analytical and critical thinkers, and artist leaders or educators who actively contribute to the field of ceramics. Students enjoy a rigorous curriculum in a state-of-the-art facility with teachers who are actively engaged artists and who exhibit and lecture internationally.
