Monday, January 4, 2010 - Last Wednesday the College announced the passing of Dr. Margaret Wade-Lewis, Chair of the Department of Black Studies and Director of the Scholar's Mentorship Program.
Dr. Wade-Lewis, a cherished member of our faculty, will be remembered for her many contributions, including nurturing the College's Black Studies Department, now celebrating its 40th year. She was known and respected for her strong commitment to student success. She helped start the Scholar's Mentorship Program, a highly successful and nationally acclaimed networking initiative on campus that connects faculty/staff mentors to student proteges. Dr. Wade-Lewis guided and inspired hundreds of students to success at SUNY New Paltz and beyond.
- On Tuesday, January 5, viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Homes, 43 Fairview Ave. Poughkeepsie
- On Wednesday, January 6, viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Athletic and Wellness Center on the SUNY New Paltz campus
- On Wednesday, January 6, funeral services will begin at noon at the Athletic and Wellness Center on the SUNY New Paltz campus
