Snakes on a Pane! (OK, they can't ALL be winners) Watch out for rattlesnakes on the first floor of CSB!
01/29/2011
The new installment of the Biology Club’s educational display, located just outside of the Biology Club Room (CSB 114), will feature specimens and information highlighting North America’s most charismatic venomous snake groups – the rattlesnakes.

The display will feature a 10” long, anatomically accurate sculpture of an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake fang created by Aileen Aykanat. Aileen is a Biology Major with a minor in Art Studio.

Notice the uncovered portion of the venom groove at the terminal region of the leading edge of the fang . . . Exquisite!!!

The display will also feature specimens from the Department of Biology’s zoological collection, which Aileen has been curating for the past semester. Isn’t this little guy cute – only three buttons on the rattle. Say ... "Awe" ....
So stop by in a week or two to learn about the venom toxins, heat-sensing pit organs, natural history and behaviors of these fascinating reptiles.
Believe it or not, but they are members of the Tetrapoda. Let us explain ....
