Changes (Evolution) in the Biology Department
08/21/2008
Welcome Back!
There have been a few changes since we last saw you!
First, the Department of Biology has officially moved from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to the School of Science and Engineering (http://www.newpaltz.edu/sse/)! But, we haven't actually MOVED, we are still right next door to Chemistry in CSB.
Second, after sixteen years as Chair of the Department of Biology, Professor Hon Ho has decided to step down and return to what he truly enjoys, teaching and research (you can now find him in the lab). The Biology Department wants to thank Dr. Ho for his tremendous leadership over the years. Way to go! Hon!
Stepping in to try and fill Dr. Ho's shoes is Dr. Tom Nolen. Rumor has it that he was the only one NOT to step BACK one step when the Dean asked for volunteers. Congratulations Dr. Nolen, you're the new Chair of Biology!!!!!

Dr. Nolen will continue to teach Animal Behavior, Evolutionary Theory, a graduate course and his non-major Biology course [a part of the Evolutionary Studies minor program: http://www.newpaltz.edu/evos/], in addition to continuing his research on neural network modeling of sensory-motor integration in swimming jellyfish.

Dr. Nolen and the Biology Department welcome all new and returning students. We hope you will have a productive and enjoyable fall semester!
