Student Research In The Developmental Biology Laboratory
01/22/2008
The Developmental Biology Laboratory (http://www2.newpaltz.edu/devbio) is in the research lab of Professor Denis J Moran and his collaborator Dr. Spencer Mass. Historically, the lab has been concerned with the vertebrate neural crest and neural crest derivatives such as melanocytes. Recently the focus of work has changed to invertebrate regeneration and stem cell biology, with an emphasis on wound healing and regeneration in freshwater Planaria. Students from both Biology and Physics (as well as visiting students from other institutions) are engaged in collaborative research efforts.

The freshwater planarian Dugesia sp. (Phylum: Platyhelminthes; Class: Turbellaria).
