Plant Ecology and Conservation Biology
The Department of Biology at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor with specialization in plant ecology and conservation biology, to begin in Fall 2012.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology or Ecology is required; exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered. Postdoctoral experience and experience with molecular techniques in field studies are preferred. We especially encourage applications from individuals who can bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences to the campus and who can advise and mentor all members of our diverse student body.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in her/his area of expertise, develop a course for non-majors, advise students, contribute to the current biology curriculum, and engage in service to the department, the school and the College. The faculty member will establish an independent research program in plant ecology involving undergraduate students and using local and regional ecosystems (e.g., the Shawangunk Ridge forests, Catskill Mountains, and Hudson River Valley).
