Banner Briefs: November 7, 2006

It's Alive!

  • The end of last week, we loaded all of the basic demographic information for all of our current and past students into Banner. We also loaded three years worth of Admissions history, and copied much of our current catalog into Banner.
  • The Office of Undergraduate Admission is now using Banner for their fall 2007 applicants and admission process. They are currently loading and checking the 2,200 application records already received.
  • As mentioned in the last Brief, your patience is appreciated as their office works out the kinks and continues to learn how to use this new system in the coming weeks and months.

Banner Catalog

  • Catalog data has been loaded, which includes course titles, descriptions, grading options, instructional modes, repeat options, etc.
  • Course Master in the legacy system will be set to "inquiry/read only."
  • All course changes processed through the Provost's office and the Curriculum Committee will be updated only in Banner. We plan to have these input during the next several weeks so that the changes will be in place before we begin to build the Summer and Fall schedules in Banner.
  • By the end of this year, all Web course descriptions currently being pulled from Course Master will be changed to use Banner Catalog instead. Any changes made to course descriptions between now and then will not appear online until we switch to the Banner Catalog at the end of the year.
