Banner Briefs: March 22, 2007

To Those People Currently Using Banner Forms (INB):

The connection problems that we had this morning were related to a change that is being made in the address of our Banner server(s) up in the ITEC center in Buffalo. There will shortly be two ways to connect to Banner, but in order for either of them to work, an action on your part is required.

Tomorrow morning - when you open the LAN Supplied Application window, double-click on the J_Initiator_Patch icon. This will copy down a newer version of a required file. Following that, you can click on any of the Banner icons and they should work.

(If you want to try this now - exit from Banner / go into the LAN Supplied Applications window / using the menus along the top, click View, then Refresh - the icons should update and a new one appear / click on the J_Initiator_Patch icon (as above).)

FYI - the base Web address for Banner is becoming "banner.newpaltz.edu".

After the dust settles from this, we can 'talk about' another way to start-up Banner that seems to be a little quicker.
