Jamie Seward
Head Coach
Jamie Seward begins his second year as the head women’s basketball coach. In his first season as bench director, Seward led New Paltz to the SUNYAC tournament as the fourth seed, where they hosted Geneseo in the SUNYAC quarterfinals. The Hawks used a miracle comeback of 12 points in 43 seconds to send the game to overtime and defeat the Knights. The Hawks advanced to the SUNYAC semifinals and were defeated by the first seeded Cortland Red Dragons. New Paltz earned a bid to the ECAC Tournament as the sixth seed and were knocked out by #3 Oswego in the first round. The team posted a 17-11 overall record an a 10-6 record in conference play, setting the school record for wins in both categories.
Prior to SUNY New Paltz, Seward spent five seasons as the assistant women’s basketball coach to Mary Ellen Burt at Union College in Schenectady, NY. During the five year period, Union compiled an overall record of 98-38. This was the most successful five-year run in the history of the Union Dutchwoman program.
Prior to Union, he spent two years as the head coach of the Northern Lites seventeen and under national AAU team. In 2004, he coached the Open Women’s Basketball team at the 2004 Empire State Games. He founded and directs the Real School of Basketball for boys and girls ages eight to 15 in Amsterdam, New York.
Seward has also been on the staffs for the Union, Siena, and the Fulton-Montgomery Community college basketball camps. He was the head coach of the Amsterdam High freshman girls’ team as well as an assistant for the varsity squad.
In 2005 he was an assistant on the Union women’s lacrosse staff, helping to lead the team to the Liberty League title and the NCAA tournament.
Seward earned a Bachelors of Arts in History degree from Siena College in 2001. While at Union, he completed six credit hours in the MAT program and nine credit hours in the MBA program as a non-matriculated student.

Benjamin Lombard
Assistant Coach
Benjamin Lombard begins his second year as the women's basketball assistant.
Prior to SUNY New Paltz Lombard was the assistant women's basketball coach at Skidmore College for a year and a half. His duties included practice and game management, player personal management and tape exchange with opponenets.
Lombard was the Facilities and Programming Director at the College of Saint Rose for 14 months. He was the head of game day management and the director of intramurals and recreational sports.
Lombard earned his undergraduate degree in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland in 2003. He currently completed nine credits toward a masters degree in Athletic Administration from Marshall University.
