Head Coach

Matt Griffiths begins his second season as head coach with the SUNY New Paltz baseball team in 2007-08, after spending two seasons as an assistant coach for the Hawks.

In his first season, the Hawks posted a record of 16-22 and finished 5-9 in SUNYAC, including a come from behind two run RBI single in the bottom of the seventh with bases loaded and two outs to give New Paltz the 10-9 win over Brockport. Four players earned All-Conference recognition and two players were named to the second team ABCA Division III All Region team.

Griffiths was a two-year member of the Marist program who helped lead the Red Foxes to a MAAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2002.

In a two-year Division I career, Griffiths swiped 17 bases and had 15 doubles and 22 extra base hits. A solid fielder as well, Griffiths did not make an error as a senior and finished with a career fielding percentage of .981.

Following his playing career at Marist, Griffiths stayed on with the program as a member of the coaching staff. He worked with the Red Foxes outfielders and assisted with the program's recruiting efforts.

Prior to playing at Marist, Griffiths was a centerfielder at Skyline Junior College in San Bruno, CA where he earned all-league honors and finished fourth in the state in hitting.

Griffiths earned a degree in history from Marist in 2002 and currently resides in Highland N.Y.

Jameson Adams

Jameson Adams
Assistant Coach

Jameson Adams begins his second season as the Assistant Coach for the New Paltz baseball team. He assists Coach Griffiths in all aspects of the program.

Prior to New Paltz, Adams was an assistant director of recreational activities and an assistant baseball coach at Cedarville University.
He spent time as an Intern at South Gwinnett Athletic Association in Snellville, GA and as a Baseball Recreation Specialist at National Trail Parks and Recreation; Springfield, Ohio.

Adams was an Assistant Coach for Sequoyah High School’s (Canton, GA) summer varsity team in 2000 before becoming the Assistant Coach for Parkview High School’s (Lilburn, GA) summer junior varsity team in 2001.

He batted .304 during his Cedarville career as a first baseman and designated hitter. During the 2002 season, Adams was tabbed to the All-NCCAA Midwest Region Team and earned American Mideast Conference honorable mention. He led the team in hitting with a batting average of .338, recorded a .971 fielding average with just 2 errors and 63 putouts at first base.

Adams is a 2003 graduate of Cedarville University in Ohio, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management. He earned his Master of Arts in Sport and Recreation Management in 2005 from Kent State University.

Tom McTamaney

Tom McTamaney
Pitching Coach

Coach McTamaney begins his third season with the SUNY New Paltz baseball staff as the pitching coach. Coach McTamaney spent five seasons as the Associate Head Coach at SUNY Dutchess Community College. While at Dutchess, Coach McTamaney served as the teams Pitching Coach and was also responsible for coordinating and assisting with recruiting efforts. In his five seasons, Dutchess made 3 consecutive appearances in the NJCAA Division III World Series.

Prior to his assignment at SUNY Dutchess, Coach McTamaney was the Head Baseball Coach at Mount St. Mary College located in Newburgh, NY from 1994 through 1999. In that span, the Mount won multiple Skyline and Knickerbocker Conference titles. He amassed 146 victories in 6 seasons as Head Coach, currently the school record. His crowning achievement was leading the Mount to their first two NCAA Division III Regional appearances in his final two seasons. In 1999, Coach McTamaney's program received its first National recognition by finishing the season ranked 23rd in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Poll.

McTamaney has been employed by the IBM Corp. for the past 27 years most recently as a Corporate Global Commodity Manager. He resides in Newburgh, NY with his daughter Kara.
