NEW PALTZ -- Members of the Music Department faculty at SUNY New Paltz will perform a Faculty Sampler concert featuring a broad spectrum of works, from classical to contemporary. The concert is Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m. in the college's Julien J. Studley Theater.
The 13 musicians and three vocalists will present movements from the Beethoven Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano; Mozart's Quintet for French Horn and Strings; Five Songs by Gabriel Fauré and original compositions from the college's Faculty Jazz Ensemble.
Classical performers include Joël Evans, oboist; Susan Seligman, cellist; Ruthanne Schempf and Sylvia Buccelli, pianists. Also, Carole Cowan, violinist, Valentina Charlap-Evans, viola, Louis Bonifati, clarinet and Gregory Dinger playing classical guitar. Vocalists include Edward Lundergan, a tenor; and Barbara Hardgrave, mezzo-soprano.
The Faculty Jazz Ensemble features guitarist Mark Dziuba, director of the college's Jazz Studies Program, as well as Vinnie Martucci on piano; David CasTiglione on saxophone; Jeff Siegel, drums, John Menegon, bass; and Teri Roiger, a vocalist.
