Dr. Khavarani has established a national/international reputation as a humanitarian and a renowned artist. PBS has since Thanksgiving Day been running a major nationwide fundraising campaign with his donations of one of his reproductions and a coffee-table book dedicated entirely to his paintings--The Birth of Abstract Romanticism, Art for a New Consciousness, Art for a New Humanity. Late Professor Albert Boime of UCLA, the foremost internationally recognized art historian of our time and the author of this book (the last of his 26 books), perceived Khavarani's art a movement--a "one-person-movement." In conclusion of his book, Boime noted "It remains to be seen how the fallout from Khavarani's paintings will influence the history of art." 6 p.m. Refreshments and meet the artist 7 p.m. Lecture 8 p.m. Q&A Weather date: Feb. 21 To request an American Sign Language interpreter please call (845) 257-3520.
