Anthropology

Faculty

Members of the faculty of anthropology are committed to excellence in teaching, and they are also engaged in anthropological research and scholarly publication that enable them to convey to the pleasure and excitement of "doing anthropology" to their students. Members of the anthropology faculty specialize in a wide variety of topical and theoretical areas including archeology, political anthropology, psychological anthropology, medical anthropology, cognitive anthropology, comparative kinship and social organization. They have expertise in a wide variety of geographical areas including: South America, South East Asia, Native People of North America, South Asia, Eastern Europe, and North America. All members of the anthropology faculty have published scholarly articles and/or monographs, and many have received research grants and awards including a National Geographic Research Grant, a National Science Foundation Grant, Fulbright Awards, a National Endowment for the Humanities Grant for the Improvement of Teaching, a National Institution of Mental Health Predoctoral Grant, SUNY Summer Research Grants, and a SUNY Award for Excellence in Teaching.
