Alumni Day

Join us for Alumni Day on Saturday, April 26. Or make it a weekend by also attending activities on Friday, April 25 or Sunday, April 27.

Alumni Day is designed to be multi-generational and family friendly, so everyone from young alumni to alumni with families have a reason to visit campus and enjoy spring in New Paltz. Weather permitting, activities include a kids fun zone, alumni-athletes' spring match-ups, complimentary outdoors breakfast or lunch, visit by mascot Hugo, and appearance by "Augie" the goose-herding dog. Also enjoy gallery exhibitions, planetarium show, 3D printing demonstration, a theatre production, and more. We look forward to welcoming our alumni home!

Check in at our tent on the AWC Lawn on Saturday, April 26! Advance registrations are greatly appreciated (click here to register) so we can plan most effectively. Some activities require ticket purchases or registration separately from Alumni Day as noted in the individual listings below.

BFA Exhibition Friday, April 25, 2014

5-7 p.m.
Opening Reception for BFA I Thesis Exhibition (Dorsky Museum) Family friendly!
View work by some of New Paltz's talented student artists and enjoy other gallery exhibitions on display.

5:30-7:30 p.m.
Kids Sports Night (Track) Family friendly!
Outdoor event to be held weather permitting (rain date TBA) for elementary boys and girls ages 5-10. Activities may include soccer, volleyball, relay races, capture the flag, freeze tag, kickball and more!

7:30 p.m.
Alumni-Athletes and Alumni Welcome Reception (Shea O'Brien's, 127 Main St.)
Informal gathering with cash bar at this popular downtown New Paltz establishment. To meet up with former teammates and friends on various athletics teams, head directly to the venue.

8 p.m.
Mainstage Production: "On The Verge" (Parker Theatre) - Note! Buy tickets now!

Golf - 9 holes (New Paltz Golf Course, 215 Huguenot St.) - Note! Pay at course.
$25 per person, including a cart. To set up a tee time, call New Paltz Golf Course directly at 845-255-8282.

8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Welcome Tent: Check-In and Registration (AWC Tents)
Each alumnus who stops by will receive a complimentary item, while supplies last, from the Office of Alumni Relations. The "Center Court" concession will have a Hawks clothing sale to benefit the athletics program.

8:30-10:45 a.m.
Continental Breakfast (AWC Tents) Family friendly!

8:30 a.m.
Kids Fun Zone (AWC Lawn) Family friendly!
For children to enjoy. Activities are TBA, will operate weather permitting, and may possibly include inflatables, volleyball, and backyard barbecue-style games with music. Click here to register.

Symposium for Art Educators (Terrace) - Note! Separate registration and payment needed for conference attendance: Click here for details!
SUNY New Paltz hosted 9th Annual Professional Development Symposium for Art Educators, presented by NYSATA Region 7, SUNY New Paltz Art Education Department, and the Mid-Hudson Teacher's Center. Note: The 3:15 p.m. College reception is separate and open -- see below

Relay for Life of SUNY New Paltz (Old Main Quad; Rain location: Elting Gym) Family friendly!
Alumni and friends can register to join a team, create their own team, or participate in the "survivor lap" for this student-run campus effort, which is part of the national event to fight cancer. Watch an item being created right before your eyes. Learn about the College's 3D printing program and the nation's first MakerBot Innovation Center at SUNY New Paltz.

Meet Augie: SUNY New Paltz's goose-herding dog (AWC Lawn/Tents) Family friendly!
Augie is the subject of a forthcoming children's book. Augie's handler, Mike Malloy, will explain how Augie's work supports the campus environment and sustainability efforts, and how Augie came to join the SUNY New Paltz team.

Memorial event in Parker Theatre to honor Emerita Faculty Beverly Brumm of the Theatre Department, followed by a 4 p.m. reception in Blackbox Theatre. Click here to register.

Planetarium Show Planetarium Show (Entrance in Coykendall Science Center, CSB Lobby) Family friendly!
Enjoy a 45-minute show. Limited to 44 seats; advance registration required (click here). A second show will be added at 3:30 p.m. if the first show is fully booked.

Held following the NYSATA Region 7 Professional Development Symposium for Art Educators, this reception is open to all SUNY New Paltz Art Education alumni and friends, whether or not they attended the conference.

Theatre Reception (Blackbox Theatre, Smiley Art Building)
Theatre Department reception follows the 1 p.m. memorial honoring Theatre Emerita Faculty Beverly Brumm. Click here to register.
