Who are we?
- In 1828 a private classical school was organized to better the education of young people. This school was later turned into the New Paltz Academy.
- The Board of Trustees was determined to rebuild, and a new building was built in the place of the original Academy.
- In 1884 the Academy burned to the ground.
- The gracious Board of Trustees of the New Paltz Academy liquidated the college's debts from their own pockets. From there the Academy became the New Paltz Normal School. Thanks to their generosity, more than 52,000 students have graduated from New Paltz.
