Office of Academic Advising

Minors

Academic minors at New Paltz require 18-25 credits, depending on the department. For students in most programs, a minor is optional.

A student who wishes to declare a minor should be directed to the appropriate academic department. The minor department will then assign the student a faculty advisor, and the minor will be added to the student's Progress Report. Questions regarding the minor should be directed toward that advisor. Collaboration may be necessary so that the student may complete the entire plan of study in a timely manner; however, an optional minor need not be completed in order to graduate.

A comprehensive list of minors and the academic policies governing minors may be found in the Undergraduate Catalog.
