THE ADVISING PROCESS

Assigning Advisors to Incoming Students

advisorprocess

Orientation and Post-Orientation Advising

Freshmen and transfer students attend an Advising and Registration session to create their first schedules. Grouped by major or area of interest, students are advised by faculty and professional advisors in selecting their courses. All new students go through the Academic Advising Center to make any course changes after orientation and throughout the add/drop period.

Undeclared Advising

Professional advisors in the Academic Advising Center advise students who are not clear on a major or are working on meeting entrance requirements for their desired area of study.

Pre-Major Advising

Some majors have a pre-major status and department faculty will provide advisement until students meet entrance requirements and declare.

Major and Minor Advising

Students who declare a major and/or minor are advised by faculty from the department.

Pre-Health Advising

The Pre-Health Advisor in the Academic Advising Center advises students who are taking courses in the pre-health program.

Graduation Audit Advising

The Senior Advisor in the Academic Advising Center meets with graduating seniors to ensure all requirements are met for their graduation.
