Why did you pick New Paltz?
"It just felt right. The campus was beautiful. The art facilities were high ranking. And the surrounding area had just the right amount of quaintness and 'hippie-chic' culture. But the people I met really helped me make the decision. The faculty and students were the most helpful and friendly, and their apparent happiness was, and still is, undeniably contagious."
Have you participated in any internships?
"Last summer I had an apprenticeship in New York City with Matthew Pizzulli, a traditional jeweler, working in gold and platinum to create all handmade one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. I learned so much from this experience, none of which would have been possible without the help of the CAS Internship Stipend, granted by the Career Resource Center."
What professors have made an impact on you while here at New Paltz?
"Tom Sarrantonio, Sue Books, Jamie Bennett, Arthur Hash, John Cogswell, Denis Doherty, Michael Boms, and Cyrus Mulready. I could go on for days – they're all amazing."
What would be your advice to the entering class of freshmen?
"Take advantage of your resources. Your teachers are willing and ready to help you, just talk to them. The mountains are beautiful and calming, retreat there. Your parents miss you and love you unconditionally, call them."
