What's one challenging academic experience you've had so far?
"My Great Books of Asia class. It was about Asian philosophy. I had to write a long research paper. I had no idea what I would do. I stopped in my professor's office, I didn't have an appointment, and we had a great conversation. He gave me a diet book about raw food that employed Asian philosophy. It was a 500-page book! I read the whole thing. Then I meticulously analyzed it. I realized that the author had really appropriated ancient Asian philosophies and changed them ever so slightly to lead someone to buy his products. It was very subtle. It was a hard paper to write, because I had never analyzed a non-academic text. But I enjoyed the challenge. It taught me to be a critical thinker."
