Transfer Credit Appeal Process
The transfer credit appeal process offers students the opportunity to petition coursework that has not been accepted to satisfy either the General Education Requirement or work that may apply towards a major.
The steps for initiating the transfer credit appeal are outlined below:
To appeal credit that will satisfy the General Education Requirement:
If you are seeking credit for a course that has not been accepted to satisfy any of the General Education Requirements, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at (845) 257-3200 or via e-mail at admissions@newpaltz.edu. This process may also require you to submit a written statement of appeal along with a course description and syllabus.
To appeal credit that may satisfy a major requirement:
If you are seeking credit for a course that has not been accepted to satisfy a major requirement, please contact your academic advisor. If the course is deemed appropriate for completion of a major requirement then your academic advisor will initiate the process of contacting the appropriate campus officials to ensure that the change is made to your progress report.
The appeal process begins at the campus level and, if not resolved at this level, will move to the SUNY Provost level. SUNY New Paltz will respond to your appeal within 10 business days.
